"Education is simply the soul of a society as it passes from one generation to another." - G.K. Chesterton
We live in an age characterised by extensive technocratisation, in which education is increasingly getting reduced to merely a tool for obtaining well-paid jobs. In such a context, the above quote by G.K. Chesterton is a reminder of how education must be conceived. In imagining education as the soul of a society, in simple yet profound words, Chesterton conveys the idea of education as access to an accumulated pool of knowledge that has persisted through time and carries the collective will and struggle of the human society. Such a conception of education is important for me as it transcends the barriers imposed by caste, class and gender in envisaging the human society as one. As a teacher, this is the spirit of education that I wish our school is able to impart to our students - one that motivates them to be better human beings, considerate of one another, alongside their journey to obtain illustrative careers.
It is unequivocal that the role of a school today, is not only to pursue academic excellence but also to motivate and empower its students to be lifelong learners, critical thinkers, effective analyzers and productive members of an ever changing global society. Therefore, at DHOHSS, we lay special emphasis on curricular and co-curricular activities, providing the learners ample opportunities to become leaders in their respective fields.
We relentlessly work to develop lofty morals, high compassion and a sense of discipline. I am confident that DHOHSS will always be a beacon of light, guiding the destiny of its students and radiating kindness and compassion, pursuing excellence and fulfilling the motto: “Quality Education for all”
I would also like to thank the parents of our students for having bestowed their faith and confidence in us.
